Where can I find live, authentic Hawaiian musicians and entertainment that includes hula dancers?
Hawaiian International Celebrations is constantly in contact with musicians from Hawaii that have been playing Hawaiian music for many years. Our dancers travel throughout the states performing and are available for your unique Authentic Hawaiian Luau. The dancers are taught by Kumu Hulas (teachers) and are based here in the Mid-West but came from the Islands. They continuously learn and keep their cultural roots strong by practicing and sharing with their Kamali'i (children).

Why doesn't every event planner specialize in luaus?
A “typical” American luau consists of parrots, flamingos, Hawaiian shirts, pineapples, recorded Don Ho music and tropical drinks. Not ours, we specialize in Hawaiian luaus because our founder Norman lived on the island of Maui for most of his life. It is our mission to bring the Hawaiian Islands to you. You need to have been there to know what an authentic luau consists of.
Event planners must be very talented to do a truly authentic luau. We use special foliage that is native to the islands-from the mountains to the ocean and from the valleys to the rain forest-Hawaiian entertainment, including native drum playing, hula dancing from all of Polynesia and the famous fire dancing, authentic “local kine” foods and the aloha that is shared by all.
Hawaiian International Celebrations can bring all of these pieces of Hawaii to you by having first hand knowledge and team members with the experience of living in and visiting these places for years.

Who is the expert in offering a truly authentic and unforgettable experience when I want a luau?
Hawaiian International Celebrations’ CEO, Norman J. Franco has been doing luaus since he was very young. He “talks story” of the tutus (grandparents) sending him off to gather the foliage and fruits from the island countryside. He even gathered fish from the sea for his family to share at luaus. Helping prepare for luaus for his entire life makes him an expert at different original decorating ideas that transform any place into a tropical paradise!

How long does it take to plan an authentic luau event?
We start by making your event ours to ensure it becomes the best luau you have ever experienced. We draw up drafts to see what we can bring to your special party. Because we make your luau unique from others, it takes time.
We prefer at least 4-6 weeks of preparation at a minimum. This insures we can get everything we need to make your luau an unforgettable experience. For a booking of talent from Hawaii we need at least 6 months up to a year to ensure the original recording artists are available.
